Principal Investigator
The Roh Laboratory at the Department of Neurology at CUIMC studies novel acute treatment strategies to improve recovery and outcomes in patients with hemorrhagic stroke. In our translational laboratory (using clinical and pre-clinical animal models), our group is developing novel clinical laboratory and neuroimaging diagnostic approaches and innovative treatment strategies focused on optimizing rapid hemorrhage control while preventing downstream secondary brain injury in these patients.
Research Overview
- Assessing drivers of specific coagulation pathways relevant for ongoing bleeding in hemorrhagic stroke to identify novel druggable targets to optimize hemorrhage control in these patients.
- Determining how anemia impairs coagulation and cerebral oxygen delivery in hemorrhagic stroke using pre-clinical, mechanistic and human observational studies.
- Determining how anemia impacts cerebrovascular disease, neural connectivity, and cognitive function in healthy community subjects and in survivors of hemorrhagic stroke.
- Investigating novel transfusion and transfusion-sparing therapeutic approaches focused on improving hemorrhage control and reducing secondary brain injury in hemorrhagic stroke in pre-clinical models and clinical patient settings.
- Clarifying ways to improve the quality of transfused products to optimize transfusion efficacy, safety, and patient outcomes using translational pre-clinical a large multicenter human donor-recipient transfusion data.
