Chinwe Ibeh, MD is an assistant professor of neurology in the Division of Stroke and Cerebrovascular Disease. She attained her medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA, where she was inducted into the national Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Ibeh completed her internship in internal medicine and residency training in neurology at the University of Washington, serving as chief resident, followed by a two-year fellowship in neuroepidemiology and vascular neurology here at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Dr. Ibeh specializes in stroke and vascular diseases of the brain and nervous system, with research interests in the neurological manifestations of heart failure and left ventricular assist devices.

Research
Dr. Ibeh’s main research interest is the neurological sequalae of chronic cardiac dysfunction and cardiac surgery—particularly stroke and cognitive impairment. Her current research efforts focus on characterizing high-risk subpopulations among patients with heart failure, cardiomyopathy, and left ventricular assist devices to ultimately identify targets for early intervention and preventative strategies to improve neurological outcomes.
