Four VP&S Physician-Scientists Named 2024 Gerstner Scholars

Tristan Sands, MD, PhD, assistant professor of neurology and pediatrics, has been named a 2024 Gerstner Scholar by the Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons (VP&S). Established by VP&S in 2008, the Louis V. Gerstner Jr. Scholars Program annually awards four exceptional VP&S physician-scientists with funding to pursue promising lines of research aimed at bringing new treatments to patients. Dr. Sands and his fellow awardees will represent the 16th cohort of Gerstner Scholars.

Dr. Sand's project, “Convergence of Neurodevelopmental Channelopathies,” is focused on improving the care of children with severe genetic epilepsy syndromes. [read more]
